As If I Was A Tourist

As If I Was A Tourist

I was born in Bogotá, but haven’t lived there for over 17 years. When I visit, though I am a ‘local,’ I get to experience many things as if I was a tourist. Friends sometimes tease me, reminding me I am not a tourist, but I love the feeling. It’s magical. Little moments and spots that were once part of daily life, and that could go unnoticed, have sneakily become the focus of my photography today. This lovely channel-billed toucan never went unnoticed though. I was pretty happy and lucky to have been able to capture a good selection of the toucan family on my last travels to Villavicencio. Through my photos, I want to share as much as I can, of all that Colombia has to offer – including some of the birds that make up the world’s largest bird species list with over 1,850 recorded species. Next time someone brings up Colombia, perhaps you can talk about this lovely toucan! – Adriana Bernal
